Branding is a very important step to becoming a successful blogger with building a community around your blog. The reason it’s important to brand your self is because you’ll want to make a unique name for your self on the web because this is going to be your identity so chose wisely. ;-) The 1st step to branding your self is coming up with a unique Name that you want to be known by. Remember chose wisely because you will be using this name with anything connected to your blog community for example I have a profiles on various sites like Twitter, friendfeed, Blip.fm,just to name a few and I used the same name as do here at WordPress, so the community Around the Teck~Line blog can recognize it’s me.

The 2nd step is picking a avatar for your identity chose wisely because it’s not good practice to change the avatar after you have established your on line identity because your avatar is going to be the first thing they notice when your community arrives to your profile compared to your name.

The 3rd step is writing about page for your blog with information about your self as well readers want to know the approach you’re taking with your blog as well as a basic back ground about you like for example how is you back ground going to back up what you’re writing about. For example expertise or knowledge background.

After taking care of steps 1, 2, and 3, you’re going to want to link back to your blog on your various profiles so you can gain new readers as well.

For the 4th step you’re going to want to focus on setting up a community around your blog I recommend starting out on Twtter, because you can gain a lot of followers in a short period of time and out of all of those followers a percentage of them will become new readers for you’re blog. ;-)

This also relates to step 4 After you set up a community you’re going to want to engage the community from more then just linking back to your posts on your blog the community wants to see another side of you besides a blogger for example when I’m not writing posts for Grid360’s WebLog or Teck~Line I’m usually sparking up a conversation on various forums or linking to interesting sites or articles by other bloggers by doing this you’re showing your community that’s it’s not all about you or your blog.

Please share your tips and thoughts in the comment field below we would love to hear what you have to say and share with us. :-)
