How to Exercise the Free Way with the Internet

So, you’ve heard that exercise keeps your weight under control and makes you live longer. Who wouldn’t want this? Well, people who sit at a desk for a majority of the day to make a living and can’t afford an expensive gym membership. Well, think again. Many things, even exercise tools are switching to the web, and the best ones are the best price: FREE!!!

Track Your General Health

300 Workou

When all you want to do is track your workouts and general health, Gyminee is the way to go. You can track the food/calories you’re taking in, see your gains/losses in things like heart rate and weight, give you nutrition advice, and it even has dozens of exercise routines you can use. All this can be shared on its own social network. You can even keep a journal of how you’re feeling and what you are trying to accomplish. Gyminee is a fresh new Web 2.0 site that has lots to offer. Gyminee is free.

Run, Walk, or Bike with your iPhone

Using iPods and iPhones to track your exercise and running and has been made popular by Nike+, a system that puts a little chip into your shoe (Nike, of course), and tracks your running. Sounds great, right? Well, most people don’t dig the 20 something dollar price tag just to track your running. So, an iPhone app called RunKeeper was developed. It features tracking of how far you walk, ride, or run with its unique GPS, no funny sensor in your shoe. It offers basic features like tracking speed and pace, but also has many advanced features, like updating Twitter/Facebook with your runs automatically. You can see your progress online at its website. RunKeeper is free for a basic account.

For those with no iPhones, like me

There’s no GPS tracking, but a simple way to map your runs is to use MapMyRun. It has a simple Google Maps interface that allows you to see how far you’re going to run. Online accounts are free, and you can store runs for later. You can share your runs and goals with other runners/bikers on the social network built into MapMyRun.

Combining these tools should help you to becoming a healthier person. Believe me, being healthy and fit makes you feel so, so much better. Thanks from the Tech advisors!
